Monday, October 22nd - Friday, November 2nd
All Bands
The Band Program is having a Yankee Candle fundraiser from now through Friday, Nov. 2nd. If you would like to buy a candle, or another item in the catalog, you can either order from a band student or purchase directly online. Front office staff also has catalogs and order forms.
Fun Facts:
* 40% of each item goes toward the band.
* Items ordered from students (not online) will arrive before Christmas Break and after Thanksgiving Break.
* In CCPS, the band program is almost entirely self-funded.
* With this money, we will purchase new music, accessories for instruments, music stands, and other items necessary to keep the band playing!
* Please include a 7% sales tax with all orders.
* This is the bands only "stuff we sell" fundraiser all year. A large majority of our funding comes from other community partners (like FAME)
* Candles make GREAT stocking stuffer's and gifts!

Preparation for FAME Festival on Friday and Saturday, November 9th and 10th
FAME raises money to purchase instruments for local music programs. The band program at Ainger has received considerable funding in the form of purchased instruments from FAME. If you want to help keep music in our schools, this is the event! We need your help. Learn more about FAME by visiting their website here: http://www.famesupportmusic.com/
We are selling tickets and t-shirts on Friday night and all day and night on Saturday, November 9th and 10th. If you can, sign up for a time-slot on the blue buttons below. Your kids are welcome to attend with you, especially at the t-shirt booth!
To make sure everyone knows what they need to do, we are hosting a volunteer meeting on Tuesday, October 30th at 7pm in the LBHS Band Room which is located directly behind the LBHS auditorium. It is not mandatory to attend this meeting, but it would be helpful.

Students that would like to audition for the 7/8th grade or 9/10th grade All State Bands need to read the following information:
1) Practice the All State Scales on the last page of your band method book.
2) Practice sight reading DAILY using www.sightreadingfactory.com . You can create a temporary 30 day account to try it out! After that, it does cost money.
3) Purchase (through Cadence Music 1-800-262-BAND OR Amazon.com) the required etude books. To see the etudes and exact requirements for your instrument, click this link here. Print the page titled Middle School Band 7-8th Grade under "Requirements".
4) Contact someone to take private lessons! This is a HUGE motivator to help prepare you for the audition in September. Consider signing up with a private lesson teacher.
5) Consider going to a band camp or a camp specific to your instrument. Many band camps work on the All State material. See the band camps links under News and sign up! LOOK BELOW.
6) Please note, Mr. Ostrow will meet with the eligible students in the mornings before school for the first few weeks of school. These sessions will be "check-ins" to make sure you are ready! Details will be announced in the first few weeks of school.
