2019 Disney World
"You're Instrumental" Performance
And a Day at the Magic Kingdom!
Awesome Ainger Band Families,
Your Advanced Band student is invited to attend a studio performance and day in a park at Disney World in Orlando! The Boosters would like to take a moment to give you the basic details about this trip so you can plan accordingly and know what to expect.
The trip date is Friday, March 29th, 2019 and it is a 1 day trip there and back. Our performance time slot is very early in the morning. Students will need to be at L.A. Ainger at 4:30am on that morning, because the charter bus will need to depart L.A. Ainger no later than 4:45am in order to reach our destination in Orlando on time. Upon arriving at the Disney, Ainger band students will participate in a studio performance. You can learn more about this program by clicking here. After the performance, we will make a short trip to a park of the ensemble's choice and spend the rest of the day enjoying the park! We will be leaving the park at approximately 6pm and returning to L.A. Ainger at about 10pm. We will stop for dinner on the way back.
The student cost will be $174.00 per person, which includes costs for the charter bus, performance studio fees, admission to s Disney Park, and one meal ticket. Boosters will provide muffins and water to students for breakfast as it's going to be a very early trip. Payment for the trip must be by check and made out to L.A. Ainger Band Boosters and may be made in full or in three installments - One in October, one in December, and one in February. Payments of $58 are due on October 18th, $58 on November 16th and $58 on January 11th. Receipts will be issued as payments are received. Final payment must be made by the Boosters to Disney and the Bus Company in January.
Parents: There are four VERY IMPORTANT things that must occur in order for your student to participate in this trip! If any one of them is not complete, the student will not be allowed to attend - NO EXCEPTIONS!
1. They must demonstrate to Mr. Ostrow & the Boosters that they can be responsible, respectful and follow directions promptly both in and out of class. The invitation to attend the workshop and visit the theme park is a privilege, not a right.
2. Payment must be made in full by January 11th.
3. Students will be given a form two weeks before the trip that must be signed by ALL of their teachers, stating that they have satisfied the teacher's requirements to be excused from class for the day of the trip.
4. Parents will need to complete a trip-specific medical form providing information about any existing or potential health issues and authorizing emergency treatment in case of medical emergency while they are on the trip. This form will be given to parents in February or March and must be notarized. We will have a special meeting one evening in the band room for parents to get notarized and receive final information.
Parent chaperones for the trip will be assigned a group of 5-6 students whom they will accompany at all times during the day of the trip. This is a big responsibility as they will not always be accompanied by an administrator. To make sure everyone is safe and secure with this situation, parents or guardians who signed up as volunteers to chaperone this trip will be considered on an individual basis. Parents will be chosen to chaperone according to the following criteria: whether they have helped with another Ainger Band event in this calendar year, whether they have demonstrated an understanding of Mr. Ostrow's rules for student behavior, can demonstrate they have the ability to adequately supervise a small group of students, who are well known to Mr. Ostrow and/or the Booster board to be responsible persons of good character, and can pass all background screening requirements that may be required by Charlotte County Schools. Chaperones will also need to pay to attend. We will have a potential chaperone meeting at our March booster meeting to explain the details and payment.
We hope we have provided you with a good understanding of this field trip and what is expected from both parents and students. If you would like to know more, please read our minutes from our October booster meeting. We look forward to accompanying your child to this fantastic performance opportunity and rewarding their hard work all year with a day of fun at Disney World!
